Miami, FL, U.S., April, 2008 – Rotam North America, Inc. announces an expanded label for Abacus® miticide/insecticide containing the long-lasting active abamectin.  New uses are approved in all states where Abacus® is currently registered, including California.  This is good news for fruit and vegetable growers looking for value alternatives in controlling mites and other damaging leaf pests.

New crops added to the revised Abacus® label include:

  • Plums and prunes
  • Herbs
  • Mint
  • Avocado
  • Cantaloupe, eggplant and tomatillo
  • Dandelion, endive, fennel, parsley, radicchio, rhubarb, spinach, Swiss chard and cress varieties

New pest added to citrus:

  • Asian citrus psyllid

Abacus is a value alternative to Agri-Mek®. Rotam is basic in the production of many post-patent active ingredients, including abamectin.  “Growers now have more reasons to make Abacus® their foundation miticide,” says Rotam Marketing and Development Manager Mike Adams.  “Growers on both coasts who use Abacus® can be assured it is a world-class formulation of abamectin that will deliver excellent field performance.”
